New precision source for current or voltage from Lake Shore

Lake Shore have announced the new Model 155 MeasureReady™ precision I/V source. Ideal for demanding scientific applications requiring a precise low-noise supply of current or voltage, for example electronic material characterisation, the Model 155 will be shipping later this year.

Supplying 1 W maximum from DC to 100 kHz over a broad output range, these power supplies deliver a solid foundation for I/V curve, Hall effect, and other fundamental measurements.

The clutter-free touch display with a unique TiltView™ screen presents a natural and engaging user interface. No confusing buttons or long learning curves make the Model 155 as easy to use as a smartphone. With similar connectivity – Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, plus LAN – it offers convenient remote operation via LabVIEW™, a custom PC interface, or mobile app.

New Electromagnet Power Supply from Lake Shore

Lake Shore has introduced a new electromagnet power supply – the Model 648. This quiet, fault-tolerant and robust 9.1 kW water-cooled supply is optimised for powering large research electromagnets up to 254 mm (10″) in size and is ideal for electromagnet characterisation systems used for magneto-optical studies, magnetic hysteresis tests, susceptibility measurements, Hall effect studies, spin magnetic resonance demonstrations, and biological tests.

Designed for use in high precision laboratory settings that require low electrical noise, the Model 648’s linear design removes the undesirable higher frequency noise typical of many other switch mode power supplies. The low output noise means researchers can obtain greater resolution and finer detail in results drawn from data taken during high sensitivity experiments. By using a convenient bipolar, 4-quadrant operation mode, it provides clean transitions through zero without discontinuities thus eliminating the need for external switching or operator intervention to reverse current polarity.

Built-in fault protection enables the system to survive direct shorts across the output without damage and, reassuringly, the Model 648 also comes with Lake Shore’s full 3 year standard warranty. For more information and a datasheet, please contact us.
