A new range of diffraction grating mounts with a large clear aperture also combine independent and precision rotational adjustment of square components in all three axes – an industry first from Siskiyou Corp.
Siskiyou GMx series mounts can hold 12½ mm, 25 mm and 50 mm square reflective or transmissive optics of any thickness greater than 2 mm, and offer up to 8° of total rotation in each axis, with a resolution as low as 3.2 arcseconds.

All adjustments are accessed from the top of the mount to enable use in space restricted environments, and they can be either table or post mounted for maximum flexibility.
A typical application for GMx mounts would be in the construction of the stretchers and compressors used to manipulate chirped ultrafast laser pulses in laboratory setups, or as OEM components in instruments such as monochromators and spectrometers.

The Mad City Labs‘ Nano-ZL Series are long range, Z-axis nanopositioners specifically designed to hold multiwell plates used in biomedical research. High-throughput single cell fluorescence microscopy and high speed, high resolution confocal imaging can be accomplished while simultaneously adjusting the Z-axis position to remove the effects of multiwell plate irregularities.
The Nano-ZL Series has true flexure guided motion and contains internal position sensing for a resolution of better than 1 nm over the full 500 µm travel range, and sub-nanometer for the shorter 100 µm travel range. In addition to high resolution spatial imaging, the Nano-ZL step response allows entire Z-section acquisitions with minimal photo bleaching. For more information, please contact us.

mechOnics, a specialist in micropositioning systems using piezo inertial drives, has expanded their range of stages. In addition to a comprehensive portfolio of X, XY, and XYZ miniature translation stages, Elliot Scientific is now able to offer a Monomode Coupler and an XYZ Positioner with up 10 mm travel. Stages utilise a directly driven slip/stick rod method that maintains position without power, and ensures zero backlash or rotation.
The MX 35 XYZ Positioner is a compact miniature translation stage system that offers up to 10 mm in all axes with a step resolution of approximately 10 nm depending on choice of controller. The stage can position itself at speeds up to 1.2 mm/s with an accuracy of 50 nm. A vacuum-ready version is available along with a smaller sibling in the MX 25 model that offers 2 mm of travel in all axes.
The MK 25 Monomode Coupler focusses a free-space laser beam onto an optical fibre by means of a compact piezo-driven aspheric lens equipped assembly. This allows for remote focusing and alignment of systems where traditional hand adjustment would be impractical.
Full technical specifications of these products and details of other systems from mechOnics can be found in their current catalogue. Alternatively, please contact us for more information.
