Prizmatix impresses at Neuroscience 2018

Prizmatix has been wowing the crowds at Neuroscience 2018 in San Diego this week with their self-contained UHP-M, an ultra-high power UV & Visible light source for many microscopy applications.
Incorporating two independently controllable Prizmatix large-chip LEDs, the UHP-M delivers broadband white light from a single 55 W LED, and high power UV from a single 10 W LED operating at 365, 385 or 405 nm depending on model ordered. The UHP-M offers:
- Optically isolated TTL & analogue inputs
- Fast TTL switching
- Low optical noise
- Long life (no lamp replacement)
- Fanless operation
- Remote control*
- USB interface*
* The UHP-M requires no external control if operating at full power. However, if power levels need to be adjusted, the optional remote control or USB interface will be required.
Prizmatix also announced the introduction of a digital micromirror device (DMD) module for delivering light to cellular and subcellular targets. Applications include: optogenetics, uncaging, photoactivation and fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP).
The one megapixel DMD utilises a grid of 914 by 1140 independently controllable micromirrors to divert light to specific areas under study at over 1000 times per second.
This exciting new product offers almost spatial light modulator (SLM) performance without the need to use lasers, and we’ll know more about it soon.
There’s still time to visit Prizmatix in booth 3333 as Neuroscience 2018 continues until November 7th.

Tomorrow, the Photonex Roadshow returns to Scotland

The Photonex Roadshow returns to Glasgow tomorrow, bringing together the UK’s top photonics technology suppliers, leading researchers and invited speakers for a very special one-day event on June 14th at the University of Strathclyde.
Elliot Scientific will be among the dozens of companies dedicated to optics, biophotonics and imaging technology – allowing you to view the latest photonics solutions, optical components, instruments and systems, as well as a conference and tutorials.
Photonics is an enabling technology, so you can only really find out how a company can help you in your work by face-to-face contact. Elliot Scientific’s Solution Science is more than just a slogan, it’s our approach to providing the tools and equipment you need to get the results you want.
We will be demonstrating our ranges of precision slides and flexure stages, the ultra-bright laser-driven plasma light source from Energetiq, nanopositioners from Mad City Labs, and much more. Come and talk to us about your project.
Bright products for Microscopy, Spectroscopy and Optogenetics

Elliot Scientific distribute a comprehensive range of high powered LED light delivery products for microscopy, spectroscopy, optogenetics, and other scientific research and industrial applications. Manufactured by Prizmatix, a scientist-led company that specialises in the design and manufacturing of ultra high-power LEDs, a range of power levels and wavelengths across the spectrum are available for applications that include…
- For microscopy and imaging: the powerful UHP-T LED series
- For optogenetics: single and dual wavelength systems for in-vivo and in-vitro research
- For custom setups:
- offering modularity and versatility
- fibre-coupled units with up to 11 different LEDs
For in-vivo and in-vitro optogenetics, Prizmatix offer a full range of modules that start from single wavelength plug-and-go kits, to multi-wavelength systems for activation and silencing in the same fibre. From light sources to cannulae, and everything in between, Prizmatix provides all the components necessary for experimenters in neuroscience, neurobiology, electrophysiology, biochemistry and biophysics. Typical systems have been constructed by researchers for:
- Detection & excitation
- Intensity monitoring
- In-line filtering, attenuation or polarisation
- Reflectance or fluorescence detection for in situ, in-vivo, or in-vitro applications
Prizmatix have extensively developed various photonics products for use in neuro and bioscience research such as optogenetics, as well as traditional chemistry, biology and physics. For example, fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy, microscopy, and absorption measurement are typical applications here. Elliot Scientific are always happy to advise, so contact us today for further information.
UHP-T-MP: Excellent for Optogenetics/fluorescence excitation in microplate applications

The UHP-T-MP series of Ultra High Power LEDs, by Prizmatix, feature a powerful rectangular (3:4) homogeneous collimated beam useful in many demanding applications such as direct microplate illumination without a light guide, fluorescence microscopy and machine vision.
Optimal illumination of standard 96 well microplates from a working distance of about 40 cm is realised by its aspheric optics, and the USB-equipped LED controller supports CW or pulsed operation via a TTL trigger. LED intensity can be set via a pot or external analogue voltage input.
The UHP-T-MP is available in blue – 455 nm, green – 528 nm or red – 630 nm wavelengths, and can be used coupled to an optical fibre or liquid light guide, or just as a collimated light source.
Key features
- Single chip Ultra High Brightness LED
- Precisely adjustable, stable power
- 3:4 aspect ratio
- CW or pulsed operation
- USB interface
- Long life (no consumable parts)
