LASER World of PHOTONICS opens today

The biennial photonics-fest that is colloquially named LASER Munich opens this morning.

Exhibitors will be demonstrating their wares that include optics, lasers, instrumentation and all things related, to over 30,000 visitors across the four days of the show.

Elliot Scientific is at LASER World of PHOTONICS, on stand 340 of our friends Mountain Photonics in Hall B2.

New high output tuneable light source… The Hyperchromator

An efficient monochromator utilising the high-brightness Energetiq EQ-99X LDLS Laser Driven Light Source (right) has been developed by Mountain Photonics, and was recently demonstrated on our booth at Photonics West.

The Hyperchromator uses an off-axis parabolic mirror to focus the broadband light generated by the small plasma spot of the LDLS™ directly onto a diffraction grating, and then off a second mirror to an exit port.

As no entrance slit is used, the optical efficiency of the system is very high – typically f/1.5 or f/2, depending on the required resolution or throughput. A white light bypass output is also available.

The output port has been designed to allow for a multitude of illumination or light coupling options. By using standard catalogue components, the Hyperchromator can be easily integrated into an application.

The Hyperchromator is controlled via USB/RS-232 and an intuitive GUI, with LabVIEW™ and other software libraries supported.

Existing owners of an Energetiq EQ-99X LDLS™ can add tuneability by purchasing the Hyperchromator unit alone.

analytica and SU2P open next week – Elliot Scientific at both

analyticaFor four decades, analytica has been the leading international fair for state-of-the-art laboratory technology and pioneering biotechnology. No other trade fair in the world covers the range of subjects related to the laboratory in industry and science in such breadth and depth, and on such a scale.

Elliot Scientific will be demonstrating our Optical Tweezers system in Booth 240, alongside our German distributor Mountain Photonics, which can be found in Hall A2. We will also be showing our range of precision mechanics, from ultra-small slides to our world-renowned high-resolution Flexure Stages.

The analytica event takes place from the 1st to the 4th of April at Messe Munchen.

The fifth annual SU2P Symposium opens on Monday, and over two days an exceptional list of speakers from around the world will present details of leading edge research and industrial utilisation of a wide range of photonics and related topics. A small exhibition runs alongside and we will be there demonstrating the range of products Elliot Scientific can offer to scientists and manufacturers.

SU2P LogoSU2P is a collaborative venture between six institutions that focuses on:

  • Biophotonics
  • Solar cell devices and characterisation
  • Integrated photonics
  • Solid-state laser engineering and nonlinear optics
  • Photonics sensors
  • Environmental science and technology

SU2P takes place from the 31st of March to the 1sth of April at the McCance Building, University of Strathclyde.
