New UV laser source for CRAIC Technologies’ 20/30 PV™ Microspectrophotometer

The introduction of new UV laser sources will dramatically enhance the capabilities of the 20/30 PV™ microspectrophotometer from CRAIC Technologies in terms of both fluorescence and photoluminescence microspectroscopy.

The major application will be to serve as an intense excitation source for fluorescence and photoluminescence (PL) microspectroscopy. This will broaden the range of materials that can be caused to emit photons via a luminescent process.

The 20/30 PV™ microspectrophotometer combines the latest technologies to allow the user to see and measure UV-visible-NIR range transmission, absorbance, reflectance, emission and fluorescence spectra of sample areas smaller than a micron across. Thin film thickness and colour spaces can also be determined.

CRAIC’s Technologies MP-2™ Photometer can upgrade your microscope

The CRAIC Technologies MP-2™ Microscope Photometer is designed to add photometry and imaging to an optical microscope. With a spectral range from the deep UV to the near infrared, the MP-2™ is better described as a microscope radiometer. It is limited only by the microscope’s optics.

The CRAIC MP-2™ microphotometer enables collection of transmission, reflectance or even fluorescence and luminescence photometric data of microscopic samples.

CRAIC Technologies 20/20 Perfect Vision™ Microspectrophotometer

Time-resolved spectral analysis has been added to the extensive capabilities of the CRAIC Technologies 20/20 Perfect Vision™ UV-visible-NIR microspectrophotometer.

Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED) – the next generation of displays and light sources – have an emissive electroluminescent layer that consists of organic molecules in a supporting matrix. For full colour, high resolution displays, this layer is formed into millions of microscopic pixels in ordered rows and columns.

The biggest advantages of the OLED devices, unlike the traditional Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD), is that the pixels combine both the light source and the colour source making them lighter, thinner and more energy efficient. However, the consistency of the intensity and the colour of the optical emission across the device is critical, so this is where instruments such as the CRAIC’s 308 FPD™ are used.

The 308 FPD™ spectrophotometer is designed to measure and compare the spectral output, intensity and colour consistency of each microscopic pixel in milliseconds, thereby quickly creating spectral maps for a whole device and ensuring quality control is maintained.

Elliot Scientific introduces CRAIC Technologies CoalPro II to the UK…

Coal, kerogens and petroleum source rock are becoming increasingly important in the search for new sources of energy. The CoalPro II, now available through Elliot Scientific to the coal, oil and gas sector in the UK and Ireland, is the newest system from CRAIC Technologies for the optical analysis of vitrinite and other macerals commonly found in these materials.

One of the most important ways of grading the energy content of coal and petroleum source rock is to measure the optical reflectance of microscopic amounts of vitrinite, a maceral that comprises various polymers, cellulose and lignin. This key test determines its thermal maturity and therefore energy content, a procedure standardised by a number of international bodies including both ISO and ASTM. All of the standards require the use of a microscope photometer, a device designed to measure the intensity of light reflected from a microscopic sampling area, such as the CoalPro II.
