Portable spectroradiometers from Gamma Scientific updated
Gamma Scientific’s new GS-1160 handheld spectroradiometers are stand-alone instruments designed for lighting installers, designers and engineers who require accurate, low cost spectral measurements such as:
- Colour & Chromaticity
- Gamma & White balance
- Flicker & Uniformity
- Luminance, CRI & Delta UV
- Spectral power distribution
- Peak & Dominant wavelength
- Excitation purity
The Gamma Scientific handheld GS-1160 uses a CMOS linear image sensor, covering the wavelength range from 380 to 780 nm in 1 nm steps.
The instrument offers integration times from under 0.0001 to 5 seconds and delivers the spectral data via an onboard colour graphical display. This data can also be stored on an SD card, making it ideal for the portable spectral evaluation of LEDs, OLEDs and Quantum Dot displays.
The GS-1160B is the desktop version of the above. It features all the same measurement functions, but no display, and outputs the captured data via USB or RS-232 to a PC.

Elliot Scientific will be among the 25 companies dedicated to optics, biophotonics and imaging technology – allowing you to view the latest photonics solutions, optical components, instruments and systems, as well as a conference and tutorials.
Photonics is an enabling technology, so you can only really find out how a company can help you in your work by face-to-face contact. Elliot Scientific’s Solution Science is more than just a slogan, it’s our approach to providing the tools and equipment you need to get the results you want.
Come and talk to us about your project.
We are in Edinburgh next week for IUPAB / EBSA

The joint 19th International Union of Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB) and 11th European Biophysical Societies’ Association (EBSA) Congress takes place in Edinburgh next week.
From Sunday, July 16th to Thursday the 20th., the British Biophysical Society and the Biological Physics Group of the Institute of Physics (IOP) will host an outstanding scientific programme for this major international combined biophysics event. All areas of contemporary biophysics will be included in a varied programme covering single molecule studies to complex machineries.
Elliot Scientific will be demonstrating a complete system from our Optical Tweezers range that features tracking and force measurement on exhibition days: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. You can also ask us about nanopositioning equipment for the microscope from Mad City Labs, as well as LED light sources and instruments designed for microscopy and optogenetics studies from Prizmatix, the LDLS – a novel super bright broadband lamp from Energetiq Technologies, and Spatial Light Modulators from HOLOEYE.
We can be found on Stand 40 within the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
Tomorrow, the Photonex Roadshow returns to Scotland

The Photonex Roadshow returns to Glasgow tomorrow, bringing together the UK’s top photonics technology suppliers, leading researchers and invited speakers for a very special one-day event on June 14th at the University of Strathclyde.
Elliot Scientific will be among the dozens of companies dedicated to optics, biophotonics and imaging technology – allowing you to view the latest photonics solutions, optical components, instruments and systems, as well as a conference and tutorials.

Laser users love novel flip filter design that modifies eye protection
NoIR LaserShields are now shipping the CE-certified Frame 40 spectacle. With its novel flip mechanism, which allows for a secondary filter to be brought into play in certain applications, users can benefit in situations where a modification of the passband of the fixed filter is required.
In this example, the fixed filter is FG1 glass for IR sources above 900 nm, and the secondary filter is the AXX which blocks UV and IR in between 700 and 900 nm.
