Portable spectroradiometers from Gamma Scientific updated
Gamma Scientific’s new GS-1160 handheld spectroradiometers are stand-alone instruments designed for lighting installers, designers and engineers who require accurate, low cost spectral measurements such as:
- Colour & Chromaticity
- Gamma & White balance
- Flicker & Uniformity
- Luminance, CRI & Delta UV
- Spectral power distribution
- Peak & Dominant wavelength
- Excitation purity
The Gamma Scientific handheld GS-1160 uses a CMOS linear image sensor, covering the wavelength range from 380 to 780 nm in 1 nm steps.
The instrument offers integration times from under 0.0001 to 5 seconds and delivers the spectral data via an onboard colour graphical display. This data can also be stored on an SD card, making it ideal for the portable spectral evaluation of LEDs, OLEDs and Quantum Dot displays.
The GS-1160B is the desktop version of the above. It features all the same measurement functions, but no display, and outputs the captured data via USB or RS-232 to a PC.

Display colour, intensity and flicker measured with new instruments from Gamma Scientific

Gamma Scientific [ @gammascientific ] has just introduced two new instruments for display measurements. Both offer colour, intensity and flicker testing of all types of LED, LCD, OLED and Quantum Dot screens.
The GS-1160 is the touchscreen-equipped handheld version, while the GS-1160B is designed for the bench and operates in conjunction with PC-based analysis software. The GS-1160 can also be used as a desktop system as it is supported by the same software.
These spectroradiometers, to give them their proper name, deliver faster results with repeatability superior to filter-based instruments. Additional measurement capabilities include gamma, white balance and uniformity.
Data is output on both via USB, or can also be stored on an SD card in the GS-1160 portable model. The GS-1160B can be programmed for custom testing as it has an Application Programming Interface (API). Commands can be sent via RS-232 or the USB.

New PLUTO-2, with on-board dual-core processor and memory, plus new SLM panel from HOLOEYE

HOLOEYE has launched a new enhanced electronics driver module for existing and forthcoming Spatial Light Modulator (SLM) panels. The PLUTO-2 features an HDMI interface for addressing phase functions, a USB connection for advanced calibrations, and a trigger sync output for synchronising with external devices – such as colour-switchable lasers. The driver’s faster addressing speed allows for a colour-field-sequential (CFS) mode at 180 Hz input frame rate with the matching new PLUTO-2 SLMs and, as a bonus, also offers a more stable phase response.
The PLUTO-2 driver is equipped with a dual-core processor and on-chip memory, enabling user-programmed (Ubuntu™) additional functionality. For example, a slideshow of images can played back from a USB stick or internal memory without the need for a PC.
HOLOEYE has also added to their newly developed dielectric mirror range of panels. These enable use with higher incident power lasers due to the SLM’s coating, which reduces absorption. The models currently available are:
- PLUTO-UV-043: 350 to 420 nm with 90% reflectivity and >2.3π; phase retardation up to 405 nm
- PLUTO-VIS-056: 450 to 650 nm with 93% reflectivity and 2.5π phase retardation at 530 nm, 2.1 at 633 nm
- PLUTO-NIR-049: 1000 to 1100 nm with 93% reflectivity and 2π phase retardation up to 1064 nm

Gamma Scientific hones GS-1290 wavelength accuracy to ±0.2 nm

Gamma Scientific‘s RadOMA™ range of advanced, high-speed spectroradiometers deliver millisecond measurement speeds, exceptional low-light measurement capabilities, and superior blue-light region sensitivity. The latest versions of the GS-1290 are now offering wavelength accuracies down to ±0.2 nm.
Multiple configurations cover a wide spectral range, from the ultraviolet to the near infrared:
- 200 to 890 nm (GS-1290-1)
- 200 to 1100 nm (GS-1290-2)
- 360 to 940 nm (GS-1290-3)
RadOMA™ spectroradiometers are ideally suited for testing retroreflected colour, reflectance and transmittance, LED colour and luminance, flat panel displays, and light sources.
The systems are completely modular and interchangeable for easy upgrade or customisation, and can be self-calibrated by the user so they never have to be returned to the factory.
