nPoint Piezo Nanopositioners now available through Elliot Scientific

Elliot Scientific is pleased to announce that it has been selected by nPoint, Inc. to be the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor of their nanopositioning solutions.

nPoint specialises in piezo actuator driven flexure stages available in one, two or three axes of motion. In conjunction with their ultra-precision motion control scanners and controllers, users can achieve the highest levels of performance available in the marketplace. Typical application areas are:

Life Science / Microscopy – piezo stages provide accurate, fast, and repeatable motion that enable high-throughput data acquisition and processing for techniques such as super resolution microscopy, sample scanning, autofocus, and cell tracking.

Semiconductor / Data Storage – nanopositioners are used in production, development, and inspection of silicon wafers and hard disk recording heads.

Optics – high speed nanopositioners enable movement of an optic for a multitude of precision applications such as scanning, laser beam steering, phase shifting, dithering and focusing.

Raman Microscopy for Microparticle Analysis Webinar

Early next week, a webinar entitled Raman Microscopy for Microparticle Analysis: Find, Classify and Identify is being broadcast by WITec and Nature.

It takes place on Tuesday, June 4th at 16:00 BST, that is 08:00 PDT,  11:00 EDT, and 17:00 CEST.

Dr. David Steinmetz and Dr. Miriam Böhmler from WITec GmbH will give an introduction to Raman microscopy and automated particle analysis.

They will be followed by Dr. Natalia Ivleva, from TU Munich, who will present her work on microplastic pollution in environmental samples as an application example.

16th Confocal Raman Imaging Symposium announced

Speakers from Germany, the USA and China will be at the 16th Confocal Raman Imaging Symposium being organised by our friends WITec in September.

Running from the 23rd to the 25th in Ulm, Germany, the symposium will cover aspects of modern Raman imaging and include a poster session detailing recent results in Raman imaging from various scientific fields.

An in-depth introduction to the operational principles and instrumental configurations relevant to confocal Raman microscopy will also be held at the equipment demonstrations.

During the three-day conference participants will be able to have in-depth discussions and networking opportunities with leading scientists and users of WITec microscope systems.

Iridian filters now available from Elliot Scientific

The Iridian range of filters for imaging, fluorescence, Raman and optical spectroscopy is now available in the UK and Ireland through Elliot Scientific.

Scores of filters designed for bandpass – both short and long, edge pass, narrow notch and dichroic mirrors have been added to our website.

They are used in many spectroscopic investigations such as flow and emission cytometry, excitation and emission fluorescence, and more. Imaging filters for use in machine vision applications are available too.

We can also advise on custom filters for very specific scientific applications, and welcome OEM enquiries.

Lake Shore’s 8600 VSM updated… Noise floor reduced to 15 nemu

Lake Shore Cryotronics continues to up the performance of their 8600 Series VSM, with the release of a new brochure covering the improved noise floor specifications.

The 8600 Series offers a clean, ergonomic design to simplify the researcher’s interaction with the system. For example, a motorised head brings the sample to a comfortable height for easy, one-handed exchange of the sample rods. And combining high sensitivity, rapid measurement speeds, and ease of operation for faster and more accurate measurements further adds to the convenience these systems offer.

Temperature options include a cryostat, high-temperature oven, and single stage variable temperature insert. The combined temperature range of the options is 4.2 to 1273 K, and all three options quickly slide into place and are auto-detected by the system’s software – video demonstration.

8600 Series Features

  • 5000 Oe/s field ramp rate

The magnet poles are also easily adjusted with a specially designed indexed positioning system that allows the pole gap to be set at one of six repeatable positions, eliminating the need to recalibrate after each change.

 

Oxford Day of Photonics tomorrow: Elliot Scientific exhibiting EXFO equipment

Tomorrow, Elliot Scientific will be exhibiting EXFO test systems at the Oxford Day of Photonics. This free (registration required) event is being held on Wednesday,April 24th in the University’s Department of Engineering Science.

New patch clamp amplifiers from Tecella

Since 2007 Tecella has supplied electrophysiology measurement systems that allow pharmaceutical researchers to rapidly screen drugs and medical compounds thereby accelerating and improving drug discovery.

The Focus on Microscopy (FOM2019) conference and exhibition begins this Sunday morning, April 14th, at the QEII Conference Centre in London, and runs for four long days.
